The latest installment of Gilligan’s Islands, starring two friends, is getting the green light from Warner Bros. The studio’s president of production, Chris Miller, said the series will air on Hulu and Netflix.
That means there will be a lot of overlap between the two platforms, with one movie going after the other.
“It’s really exciting,” Miller said.
“One of our priorities is to be able to bring our films to Hulu and to Netflix in a way that can be enjoyed both on the one hand and on the other.”
The films will be produced by Universal Cable Productions, with Miller and the studio’s other two partners, Scott and Michael Hirst, both returning.
There’s no word yet on a premiere date.
Gilligan has been eyeing an announcement on the next installment of the series, the next one to be announced, for some time.
Miller said that the studio was already exploring the idea of bringing the series to Netflix and Hulu.
That could mean the first movie will air in 2020 or 2021.
